Now that you know how to make lattes at home, we thought we’d let you go wild with some great latte recipes you can try in your own kitchen.
Please note: These may require an espresso machine but if you take a look at last week’s post, you know you can use strongly brewed coffee in place of the espresso.
Maple Latte
While it’s no longer fall – priime time for maple-flavored foods – it’s still quite cold in many parts of the country and, well, who doesn’t love the taste and smell of maple when it’s nippy outside!?
This maple latte recipe comes to us from the JellyToastBlog.com.
- You will need espresso, whole milk and maple syrup. (Again, if you don’t have an espresso machine, use strongly brewed coffee.)
- Pour the milk into a jar with a tight lid (a mason jar is good). Pour only halfway. Shake vigorously until the milk is frothy/bubbly.
- Remove the lid and microwave the milk for about 45 seconds. You’ll notice that the milk becomes more foamy after its time in the microwave.
- Pour your coffee/espresso into a coffee cup. Use about three ounces (you’ll need room in the cup for the foam/milk.
- Stir the maple syrup into the coffee/espresso.
- Pour the hot milk into you coffee cup and then spoon its froth on top of the rink.
Banana Latte
This recipe comes to us courtesy of GluedToMyCrafts.com.
You will need a blender for this recipe, as you will be using frozen bananas. Note: this drink is not a hot latte.
Ingredients:
- Half a cup of yogurt
- Three-quarter of stronly brewe coffee (at room temperature)
- Two frozen bananas
- One teaspoon of unsweetene cocoa
Place all of the ingredients in your blender an blend. A whipped cream to the drink’s top. (You may want to use a straw for this drink, unless you want whippe cream on your upper lip!)
Skinny Flavored Latte
Flavored lattes often use syrups, syrups that more than likely include sugar. If you’d like a flavored latte that isn’t as calorie-laden, check out this recipe from PipAndEbby.com: it uses Stevia instead sugar and skim milk instead of whole.
Ingredients (for two servings):
- One cup of brewed coffee
- One-half cup skim
- One to two teaspoons of coconut or caramel extract (or another flavored extract of your choice)
- Two teaspoons of Stevia (or sugar, if you’re a purist).
To make:
- Split the coffee between two mugs.
- Take a small saucepan and heat the milk, extract and sugar/Stevia over medium heat.
- Whisk for two minutes, or until frothy.
- (If you’d prefer more froth, puree the mix in a blender for 60 seconds.)
- Pour the mix over the coffee in their mugs and serve.
